The institution has received allegations that doctors sometimes prescribe medicines for patients suffering from diabetic retinopathy but these drugs are not useful and often lead to unnecessary surgeries. Prescriptions for diabetics are also not a silver bullet especially in cases of elderly patients who have compromised kidney function he added.
